MATCH DAY 14 MSL

BEALNAMULLA 7-1 REAL FA SWANS

Real FA Swans travelled for the last time this season to champions elect Bealnamulla. Swans started the game quite well despite being under some early pressure. However Bealnamulla got to grips with the swans defence and were soon two up. Two more individual mistakes in the next ten minutes ensured that the Bealnamulla had a strong grip on the game. Swans did break on a number of occasions and attempts from Kacey Geoghegan and Chloe Smullen just went wide. Bealnamulla added another within a couple of mins before great work from Nicole Geoghegan, Zoe Mooney and Kacey Geoghegan saw Chloe Smullen race through to open the swans account with a cool finish. A Chloe Smullen corner and a Zoe Mooney header forced the keeper into a decent save. Half Time 5-1.

Second half totally different swans team. Hard to break down and always a handful going forward the swans were not going to lie down. Tough tackling from Claire Stuart and a captains performance from Nicole Geoghegan who moved into the middle of the park where she started to boss the bealnamulla stars with her range of passing and tough tackling was the highlight of the second half. Bealnamulla did tag on another sloppy goal before the strike of the game late on from their centre midfield player who shot a twenty yard strike to the roof of the net.

Overall the better side did take the points on the day. However the scoreline today definitely didn't reflect the game as a whole. When you take a step back and look at both sides they are on totally different stages of development.

Bealnamulla side except a couple all in their last year u16, most of their side will possibly also play representative football this June. Our young swans on the other hand all underage next year, four u14s in our team and three more girls playing there first ever soccer season.

Congratulations to Bealnamulla on winning the league and let's hope the cup final is a decent spectical.

For our swans we are extremely proud of the fight and battle they showed today. Player development is always key and with the roll off roll on policy ensures our players always get a fair amount of playing time to experience match day. With two home games left we look forward to finishing the season strongly
